Getting a mortgage to build your dream home follows a slightly different process than a conventional mortgage.

1. Determine Your Home Needs

2. Consult with a Mortgage Lender

4. Select a Builder

5. Close on the Lot
Prior to beginning construction, you will need to purchase land on which you wish to build. A construction loan will advance the majority of the funds needed to purchase your lot.

6. Foundation is Completed
The first step of construction is completing the foundation, basement walls and main floor subflooring.

7. Framing is Completed
The next step of construction is completing the roof sheathing and interior partitions.

8. Exterior Roofing and Windows are Installed
The installation of exterior sheathing, roofing, exterior windows and doors and mechanical rough-ins is the next step in the process.

9. Exterior Walls are Installed
The last step of construction is installing the exterior masonry, siding, insulation, drywall. Your water and sewer connections are also completed at this time.

10. Home is ready for occupancy
The last step is the best one – you’re ready to move into your dream home!
